While hiking in enjoyable Ueland Tree Farm recently we met a kind lady walking her friendly dog and she indicated there was a waterfall nearby where we met. I marked the spot where a side trail supposedly lead down into the ravine and the waterfall with the intention of returning and looking for it.
Well, today was the day we decided to return and we picked perfect weather – sunny and around 60 degrees. We were successful in locating the falls and found the spot delightful spending some time there. Wanting to share our discovery, we decided to hide a cache in order to bring people to the spot so they too can enjoy it.
I strongly recommend a sturdy walking stick and good shoes as the side trail down to the falls is a little steep and the footing can be a bit tricky. From parking follow the logging road to a trailhead on the right. I have provided coordinates for the trailhead below and called it Trailhead 1. Follow the trail from Trailhead 1 to the second trailhead or Trailhead 2. This is the start down into the ravine and the most difficult part terrain wise. It will take you to the cache and then farther down to the waterfalls. There is a rope you can use to get down to the base of the falls if you are up to it (and willing to trust the ropes). I wasn't today but plan to next time we visit or do maintenance if I bring my own rope. In any event, please tread lightly and enjoy this special spot.
You will be looking for a medium sized (6inx4in) Lock-n-Lock that has been painted to better blend in with its surroundings. Only a log book and two coins (FTF can take ONE coin) are included but the main prize is the falls and enjoying this lovely spot.
