Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Lethbridge Challenge Trail.

This is NOT a Power Trail and the caches should be easily found.

Have fun and enjoy all the various challenges.

The cache IS at the posted coordinates. You can locate it, sign the log, and post a “Write note” online at any time. However, you CANNOT log a “Found it” online until you’ve completed the requirements (see below).

This cache replaces GC3WNR8 – Discover Alberta Challenge – Communities

This cache is patterned after GC1WWQB "Discover BC Challenge - Communities" cache by Groundhog & Shadow.

Discover Alberta Communities Challenge will help you explore our wonderful province's cities, towns, villages, and small communities. The requirements for this Challenge cache are below.

Your Challenge is to find:

* 50 Alberta caches;

* Each cache must be near the community, with the name of the city, town, village, or community in the cache name (only one cache per each unique city, town, village or community) eg. "Brooks Aqueduct" or "Sisters for a Century - Brooks" NOT BOTH.

The criteria is for the community (small group of residential full-time/year round homes — NOT seasonal/vacation or resort) to have at least a post office, hotel, store, school, community hall, service station, library, or even a mayor! It has to be on the map and it should have a few streets too.

***NOTE: resorts, provincial campgrounds, ghost towns, the BAD Legacy Trail or other power trail caches DO NOT QUALIFY.

* All past caches (active, disabled or archived)that meet the criteria, qualify

Detailed Instructions to complete this cache:

1. Successfully find and log 50 caches (not an Event or CITO, but Virtual and Earthcaches are ok) from 50 different Alberta communities, that has the name of the community in the cache name.

2. Create a public bookmark called "Discover Alberta Challenge - Communities." - In the bookmark comments for each cache include the date you found the cache. This cache must be included in your bookmark.

3. If you are not a Premium member, include in your online “Found It” log the GC Code and name, or scan the list as a jpeg and upload a photo with your log.

4. In the interest of saving gas (for more caching) you may find this cache anytime, posting your visit there with a "note" not a "find" until you have all 50 caches. Once you complete your bookmark list of 51 caches (including this one), you may log your "find" on this cache. Should you choose to log it as found without completing the challenge correctly your log will be deleted and that fact stated as a note here. We want to preserve the honour of "finds" for those who have earned it. If you want your list checked before you post your "find" just post a note first. We'll try to get right on it.

Extra notes:

a)The actual cache for this challenge is located in Lethbridge

b) The actual cache D/T rating is a 1.5/1.5. However the D/T rating that is shown on this cache page (4/4) reflects the work required to drive and find 50 caches around Alberta. The high terrain should cover the total walking needed to find 50 caches.

c) If you found and completed the original Discover Alberta Challenge – Communities – GC3WNR8, then find this cache and log it stating that. We will check the original cache logs.

d) If you found the original Discover Alberta Challenge – Communities – GC3WNR8 and are working on the requirements for it, keep working as the requirements are the same.

We hope you enjoy discovering our province. We sure will! Now get out there and travel and discover Alberta!
