Amasya is a city full of historical sites dating back to ancient times. You will be amazed to find so many places to visit in this small Anatolian city. It is also one of the few locations where Ottoman crown princes used to learn how to be a great sultan to rule the world. Amasya is also famed with the story of Ferhat and Shirin, an epic love story. According to the legend, Ferhat had to carve mountains to bring drinking water to the city in order to marry his love, Shirin, who was the beautiful princess of the ruler of the city. However, the ruler did not keep his promise and the two lovers died at the top of this mountain. You will find symbolic graves of the two at the hiding location.
