The first series introduced viewers to John Boy Power (Aidan Gillen), a moderately successful ‘drug-baron’ and paranoid psychopath. His wily lieutenant is Nidge (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor). The second series introduced Fran (Peter Coogan) who played a mid-level cannabis and cigarette smuggler / wannabe drug dealer, loan shark and dog-fighting enthusiast. Despite his 'fun' demeanour, Fran had a ruthless streak. His behavior could become volatile and threatening in an instant. Fran lived in a grotty isolated caravan and liked sitting out staring at the city lights, smoking joints and drinking poitín and keeping odd souvenirs. Due to his frequent mood swings (and for me his treatment of Donna the 'rat') he quickly became a baddie we all love to hate.
Tommy (Killian Scott) was a more likable character playing one of the leading soldiers rising through the ranks in John Boy’s gang. He played the ‘good’ kid caught in a bad gang type of character. His character was certainly more of a 'ladies' man.
****SPOILER ALERT LOVE/HATE PLOT*****
Season 2 Episode 4
If you haven't watched Love/Hate, then we would suggest you look away now...
Previously on Love/Hate:
John Boy double crossed Fran with his share of the proceeds from a drugs shipment. When Fran confronts John Boy he makes no attempt at compromise. Nidge suggests cutting him in on a quarter but John Boy sneers saying “What am I now, St. Vincent de Paul?” He tells Fran to "F*!*/"O*!". Later a furious Fran retaliates, shooting John-Boy in the shoulder as narrowly missing Nidge as they leave their club. John Boy orders Nidge to pipe bomb Fran's house while his wife Linda is still inside. Meanwhile Tommy gets a call from Nidge telling him that Fran is in his local 'boozer' and the hit is on. Tommy is a bag of nerves in the car.
The lads left the bar to place a bet

Tommy's approach to the bookies was spotted on CCTV.

The quick thinking security man locked the door. Everyone ducked. Tommy fired a number of shots but injured no one before making his gate away.

Fran knew who he was and lets just say he'll make a plan to get that Tommy in the long grass.
Just a little note to say, as so many geocachers have eyes like eagles, that the Cuckoo's Nest Cab office was in fact the 'bookies' in the scene.
