"La Villa Simonetta"

[ITA] Sorta alla fine del XV secolo con il nome de 'La Gualtiera' e diventata nel Cinquecento la villa di piacere di Ferrante Gonzaga e della sua corte, Villa Simonetta è l'unico esempio in Lombardia di villa patrizia rinascimentale suburbana.
Il Comune di Milano ha acquistato Villa Simonetta nel 1959 e ha provveduto, tra il 1962 e il 1963, al consolidamento dei solai, alle prime opere di conservazione delle decorazioni e degli affreschi e alla riparazione dei danni causati dai bombardamenti dell'ultimo conflitto.
Dal 1973 Villa Simonetta è la sede della Civica Scuola di Musica, oggi Milano Civica Scuola di Musica.

[ENG] Villa Simonetta was built at the end of the XV century with the name “La Gualtiera” and had become the house of pleasure for Ferrante Gonzaga and his court in the 16th century. This is the only example in Lombardy of a patrician suburban Renaissance villa.
The city of Milan bought “Villa Simonetta” in 1959 and, from 1962 to 1963, reinforced the floors, made the first works for preservation of decorations and frescoes and repaired the damages caused by the bombardments during World War II.
Since 1973 “Villa Simonetta” is the seat of the Municipal School of Music, today “Milano Civica Scuola di Musica”.
