This cache is placed to remember those legends that we have fond memories of.

These personalities has all made St George's their home and started or played most of their careers on these grounds.

Rudi Koertzen:

He was voted best umpire in the World in 2012 and is one of two South African umpires on the ICC Elite Umpires panel, the other being Dave Orchard.  Koertzen was born in Despatch in the Eastern Cape and still lives there today.  He is a former railway emplyee.

Graeme Pollock:

Voted cricketer of the Century, Graeme Pollock has attended Grey High & Junior School where he, at age 9, took all ten wickets in one game and made 117 not out.  He became the youngest South African to score a first-class century at the age of 16.

Gavin Cowley:

The best player to never play at an international level, Gavin Cowley has started out as a Junior Springbok rugby flyhalf and Eastern Cape Cricket captian.  These days he is a rugby television commentator and Marketing Director of a big sporting brand in South Africa.

Peter Pollock:

The cricketer of the year in 1966 and convenor of selectors for SA in the 1990's, the brother of Graeme Pollock and the trained journalist and lay preacher has made his debut against New Zealand where he took 6 wickets in the second innings in Durban in 1961.

Dave Callaghan:

After surviving cancer, the cousin of Justin Kemp (Western Province and Proteas cricket captain), made his return to international cricket where he scored 169 not out from 143 balls against NZ at Centurion during the Mandela Trophy in 1994.  He ended his career after only playing 29 matches for SA in 8 years.
