When
A day where the date corresponds to the mathematical constant Pi.
On the 14th March 2015 at 1509
Where
The Quarry at White Coppice
What
- A flash mob group photo @ 1509 (waving our pies obviously)
- A mini pi picnic in the coppice quarry (eat pie you just waved)
- Optional charity pi'ing (see below)
Why
Last year Pi Day fell on a Friday and we held a Flash Mob at Rivington's Pigeon Tower.
A good turnout of people was followed by an opportunity to throw pies in the face of the Magna Dehorser.
This year, Pi Day falls on a Saturday allowing more people the opportunity to attend.
The location has been chosen as a scenic but sheltered spot, with parking not too far away.
Bring along your own fruit pies, pork pies, (whatever you fancy) for our mini pie picnic.
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to step up and allow yourself to have a cream pie in the face.
We will provide a supply of foam, plates and towels.
I'm sure the Magna Defacesplatter will take the first few to get us started
.
Completely optional charity donations can be made by those throwing the pies.
Team Bentley have kindly offered to bring an official collection box from Derian House (Children's Hospice) for anyone who wishes to make a donation and throw a pie, and so we will greatly appreciate anyone who volunteers to take part. As this is primarily a geocaching event, you are of course welcome to take part regardless of whether you make a donation.
Spectators for this are also highly welcome to cheer on those taking part.
Photographs will be taken!
The pi'ing will take place in an organised way and will only effect those who volunteer to take part.
Old clothes/fancy dress recommended if you do take part, your own towel may be wise although we will have a couple.
To clarify, the official event will start at 15:09 and finish at 15:30 although the pie festivities may last a little longer.
