On the loop track of the Kakahu bush walk. Cache is a small tube at ground level.
Located at a viewing point on the Kakahu walkway. The walkway follows the quiet Kakahu stream up the valley before heading into the hills. The track along the stream is quite easy and very picturesque. Once the track starts climbing the hills you are crossing some farmers paddocks. A short distance across the paddocks you will come to a normally closed gate at a small flat area surrounded with several large trees, this area used to be the site of a sanatorium. The track loop is all up and down. Be sure to take the side trails to Balancing Rock and the Pinnacles. Near the top of the track you are reqarded with wonderful 360 degree views. The views take in quite a change of scenary from the flat of the plains to the rooling hills and finaly the dry inland valleys.
