This cache is the first in a series mapping the course of the North Fork of the Peachtree Creek. It is located on open space near, but not at, the headwaters of the Creek in Norcross, GA, Gwinnett County. The North Fork flows southwest for 13.5 miles and meets the South Fork just west of I85 and GA400. The two forks become Peachtree Creek and flow due west for 7.5 miles to the Chattahoochee River.
"Peachtree" is a corruption of "pitch tree." The creek is named for the abundant resinous pine trees all along the creek. The cache, however, is not in a pine tree. Continue past the cache location to glimpse the Creek itself.
Parking is available at the dead end of the street or in the adjacent office park. This is a quick park and grab. The cache is a small medicine tube. Bring your own pen and bring a trash bag to do a little clean up on your way in and out.
