The Museum of Power, housed in a former water pumping station, contains a large and fascinating collection of all forms of power. The jewel in the museum's crown is the 'Lilleshall' triple expansion steam pump known as 'Marshall' and featured on one of the UK Mega Essex 2015 Geocoins. Inside the museum are various power-related exhibits and lots of interactive exhibits to keep families entertained.

One of the many exhibits at the museum
The museum has seven acres of ground with the River Blackwater running through. In the grounds you can find a model village, a 7¼” gauge miniature railway and beautiful gardens home to plenty of wildlife.

Hop on the miniature railway!
At the event there will be a best dressed robot teddy bear competition and other childrens activities including pooh sticks on the museum bridge, a robot hunt and robot building. The museum has beautiful grounds so bring a picnic or grab a tasty cake from the tea room to enjoy. Children can also enjoy playing in the kid's play area, visiting the model village, or riding the miniature railway.
There are a couple of great geocaches with lots of favourite points right next to the Museum of Power. DriveBy - Little Choo Choo is just outside the museum entrance, but can you spot the hide? DriveBy - WaterWorks is another great cache just around the corner from the museum. You may be able to spot the hiding place, but will you be able to retrieve the cache? With some team work you may just be able to get hold of the container...
The event is being held outside of the museum in the beautiful grounds which are free to access. Entry to the museum for the event will be at a discounted rate so you can also take a closer look around while attending if you would like to, however, that's not compulsory to claim the event. Inside the museum you can find one of the biggest, oldest, and heaviest trackable ever... Marshall the Lilleshall triple expansion steam pump. Marshall was commissioned in 1931 and the fly wheel alone weighs 18 tons! The Museum of Power have kindly let us make Marshall trackable on Geocaching.com so take a good look around Marshall and you will spot the tracking number so that you can discover him.
