Island caches have provided some of my favorite geocaching experiences. I placed this one on an island in Hanrehan Lake in beautiful Murphy-Hanrehan Park, figuring it was time to place one of my own. Do not attempt to remove the cache container from its hiding spot as it is tethered in place. Attempts to extricate the container with a TOTT might damage it. Instead, you must "go to" the cache container in order to sign the log. When you are done, please screw the lid back on tightly.
USE EXTREME CAUTION while searching for this geocache in winter. Hanrehan Lake is aerated during winter months creating open water and thin ice which may lead to unsafe conditions. I often take an ice axe with me when going after island caches or at least a trekking pole with spiked tip. Tools like these help me test the ice and could be useful in pulling myself out if I ever broke through. This geocache is registered with and approved by the Three Rivers Park District.
