You're looking for a small lock & lock container with room for small swag and trackables. The easiest way to the cache isn't the straightest way. Stay on the Valley View Trail until you get to a wide, mostly flat area on the north side of the trail. It's a fairly flat off-trail walk for the next hundred feet or so. Keep your eyes open for sections of old fence and barbed wire here and there. When you get to the back of this area and the terrain starts to get steeper, the easiest way to continue is to your right. At the bottom of the slope, keep your eyes out for a discarded reddish-yellow can (like a gas can). Turn left here and head down the gentle slope until you get to the cache. Even if you just follow your GPS and plow straight down the hill, it's only about a terrain 3. GPS was spotty here, but the cache camo isn't terribly inventive and should stand out to a geocacher's eye. There's poison oak popping up all over the park, but it's easy to avoid on the way to the cache. There's none in the immediate area. (I left the poisonous plants attribute on just as a precaution.) Trail hours are 7am to sunset. Happy hunting!
Note about the title: The Snakey Woods is an episode of one of my daughter's shows. I didn't see any real snakes in the area. :) Congrats to KendraH on the FTF!
Note April 2015: I've added a few waypoints that mark a good, poison oak-free path (although there's always poison oak in the vicinity anywhere in this park). But the thistles have really sprung up, so I've temporarily bumped the terrain up to 3.5 until the thistles die back. In the meantime, I'd definitely recommend long pants. Happy hunting!
