Geocache Description:

This is a series of geocaches that will "Make It Worth Your While" to get out and find other geocaches in the area. Sometimes spending a fair amount of effort and time to find a cache that is out on its own can put people off attempting it. This series is designed to provide you with some extra incentive to get out and enjoy the journey by providing you with another find along the way.

You will need some sort of water craft to get to this one. You could possibly swim across from Adcock Park. Bonus points to you if you do!

This island is covered by mangroves and has many different animals in the area. If you drift alongside the island with the current you will hear the numerous types of birds playing about and looking for a feed. I noticed a track on Google Earth going from one side of the island to the other and thought I would investigate further. What I found was interesting to say the least...

This island has become somewhat of a tip. At the GZ you will find numerous types of rubbish that has floated in and has become trapped by the mangroves. It amazes me how some of the larger pieces of rubbish have made their way in through the maze of mangroves to get to this position on the island, perhaps they have been here for a very long time? You will find lots of plastic bottles, fishing gear, styrofoam boxes and even a couple of tyres. It really illustrates how destructive rubbish that isn't disposed of properly can be. This isn't the most scenic of places but acts as a real eye opener.

There is a nice little landing zone but be careful of an incoming tide which could wash your craft away. Follow the track along untill you get close enough to the GZ to turn left.

Please be careful at the GZ as there is plenty of rubbish around including some glass. I have made the find here very easy as the intention is not for you to go smashing through the mangroves and searching all the rubbish but to illustrate what is happening in our local waterways.

Due to Johnno and his team of school kids doing such a great job cleaning up the area (including the cache itself) I've decided to move the cache further in, in the hope they wont venture that far next time they come around! There is now nowhere near as much rubbish but there are still bits and pieces of odd things to be found. Follow the trail and it will lead you to an opening (I'm not sure what created it?). When you get to the opening head left towards the GZ. There is a mangrove tree which is a bit larger than the rest. The cache is hanging behind the tree.
