Geocache Description:

Pt:

En:

This is a cozy Beach, with clean sand and calm sea, protected by limestone cliffs. These cliffs, where you can observe numerous recesses and cavities resulting from sliding of the strata that make up the rock, are marked by constant erosion. The sand stretches to the East, and you can observe the peculiar rock formations at both ends of the beach. The slopes overlooking the beach are covered by low rocky coastline typical bushes, and there is a pine forest area on the hillside to the West.

Formerly, the beach was little used for swimming, being the East Jetty used as fishing grounds. It is also visited by naturists, despite being much more known nowadays.

The pier you can find there was constructed more than six decades ago and it served to remove stone from the quarry. One of the ships used for this function is sunk nearby. The elderly recall that other tugs that made this task were from Lisbon and were called «Etral» and «Vale Campilhas».
