Cache is located along the Balfour Scenic Trail. We had a cache in a different location on the trail but it was getting wet. It can be reached from the west side of the Klickitat River by going up the hill on old Highway 8 just west of Lyle and turning into the trailhead. There is a profusion of wildflowers in the Spring and some really massive trees so enjoy the walk. We particularily enjoyed the Osage Orange they planted for hedgerows because they were "horse high, bull strong, and hog tight". There are lines of them close to the trailhead and, at the right time of year, you will see some of the oranges on the ground that look green and lumpy. The wood from the trees was also prized for making bows and a well balanced Osage Orange bow was good in trade for either a good woman or a horse and blanket.
Cache is a camoed PVC pipe with some nice goodies. Make sure the slab of wood is back in place covering everything up. Enjoy the walk and don't forget the other caches located in the park.
