While retrieving a Lab Cache for the most recent local Mega Event, we wanted to let our boy hide his second geocache. Fortuna Pond is a fun site for camping, fishing, and just general recreational use. It's a bit off the beaten path to get there, but it's worth the journey (in fact, the day we hid this, we saw no less than two other vehicles who clearly wanted to get to the pond but didn't know what roads were required).
Located on BLM land. If you want to camp, there is a 14-day limit. Plenty of spaces for RVs or just minimal, rudimentary campsites with basic fire pits. It's a great place to rough it out for free without being too far away from civilization.
