Geocache Description:

Eid kirke ligger på den gamle Eidegårdens høyeste punkt ved veien mellom Eide og Sæbøvik. Bygningen ligger orientert, med koret mot øst, nær kirkegårdens nordøstre hjørne.Eid kirke er en enskipet langkirke med kor og skip av samme bredde.

Den nåværende kirke ble innviet av biskop Neumann i 1824 (Budstikken b. VII, sp. 357). Kirken ble noe forandret i 1891-93 da den bl.a. fikk nytt våpenhus, nye store vinduer i begge langvegger og et langgalleri langs nordveggen i skipet. Ved samme anledning ble korets gulv hevet. Et sakristi ble ifølge arkitekt Konow Lund bygget ved korets østgavl omkring 1920 (notat). I 1952-53 ble bygningen restaurert av arkitektene Konow Lund og Helland-Hansen. Malerarbeidet ble utført av Johannes Rørvik. Etter restaureringen har den ca. 250 sitteplasser.

The Church from 1824 Owned Church is located on the old Eidegårdens the highest point on the road between Eide and Sæbøvik. The building is oriented, with the choir to the East, close to the Church the farm's north-eastern corner. The current church was consecrated by Bishop Neumann in 1824 (Buds tikken b. VII, q. 357). The Church was something changed in 1891-93 when it among other things. got the new Armory, new large Windows in both long walls and a long Gallery along the North wall in the ship. By the same occasion was the choir's floors raised. A sacristy was according to architect Konow Lund built by the choir's østgavl around 1920 (note). In 1952-53, the building was restored by the architect Konow Lund and Helland-Hansen. Templates work was done by John Rørvik. After the restoration, it has approximately 250 seats.
