PLEASE make sure that the lid snaps closed and as much as possible sign the log without removing the container from its hiding spot to extend the life of the wire and to help us keep these geocaches as maintenance free as possible.
**** Be aware as there is lots of poison ivy throughout the trails****
**Please stay on the marked trails as you travel from cache to cache**
This geocache is a winter friendly micro container located in Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area on Pine Loop. The cache is located close to the trail so no need to venture far off of it. It should be a fairly easy find and is meant to take you around the beautiful nature trails. Enjoy. :) Please take extra care with this geocache as it is also being used by school children to introduce them to the wonderful world of geocaching. :)
Previous owner, Frank E. Goodrich, actively logged parts of the Conservation Area from 1925 to 1957. As you go around the Pine Loop trail and the other trails, look closely because evidence of the logging era can still be seen in the Conservation Area. OId stumps are found throughout the property. Using the clear-cutting technique, trees were cut down, the limbs removed, the best logs were selected and the remainder left on the forest floor. The remnants are decaying and moss-covered. Some of the old logging roads have been reconstructed to form the hiking trails.
Lower Trent Conservation is a community-based environmental agency that protects, restores and manages the natural resources within its watershed.
They work with local communities to create a healthy, environmentally diverse watershed that improves the quality of life for residents, makes our area more appealing to visitors and new business, and helps to ensure a more vibrant regional economy.
****Congratulations to kayakers2 for the FTF!****
