The Anhut Motor Car Co. Detroit, Michigan 1909-1910

The Anhut Motor Car Co. was established on October 27, 1909 by car builder and State Senator John Nicholson Anhut. At 25 years old John N. Anhut was the youngest state senator that had ever served in the Michigan Legislature.

Officers in the The Anhut Motor Car Co. included Philip Breitmeyer vice president, Charles Lans treasurer and H. H. Thorpe secretary. The company built American Automobiles at 510 Howard Street in Detroit, Michigan.

The Anhut Motor Car Co. built both two passenger roadsters and four passenger touring cars on a common chassis that were powered by six cylinder engines that developed 36 Horsepower. Shown above are the 1909 Anhut Light Six Thirty Six Roadster and Touring car.

In this 1909 Anhut advertisement a Roadster was priced at $1800.00 fully equipped. The Anhut Motor Car Co. was purchased by the Barnes Automobile Company which failed within two years of sale. A Canadian manufacturer in Chatham, Ontario produced a few a few prototypes of the Anhut automobile. However, full production of the Anhut was never reached.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has given the Belle Isle Cachers exclusive permission to place all geocaches on Belle Isle State Park. Please be respectful to the park, its management and all other visitors during your time here.

This park is very busy year round, please use extreme stealth at all times as every area is being used by others. Rock hides give great views around the island, we have marked the cache location to help with your finds so please replace just as you found them.
