The Everitt-Metzger-Flanders Co. Detroit, Michigan 1909-1912

The Flanders 20 was named after one of the E-M-F partners, Walter E. Flanders. The Flanders was also branded as the Studebaker-Flanders. A Total of 30,707 Flanders were built from 1909 to 1912. About half of the Flanders sold was branded as the Studebaker-Flanders. Studebaker at first was the sales organization handling these automobiles. All Studebaker dealers and distributors handled E-M-F and Flanders cars and the later became known as Studebaker-E-M-F and Studebaker-Flanders cars. Studebaker purchased The Everitt-Metzger-Flanders Co. in 1910 and by 1912 the E-M-F factory was producing the Studebaker Six.

The 1909 Flanders 20 was produced as a $750.00 two passenger Roadster. Add two seat in the rear for $40.00 and the Roadster became a four passenger Touring Car. This American Automobile was equipped with a four cylinder water cooled engine that developed 20 horsepower. A two speed transmission was used in 1909 but was changed to a three speed transmission for the succeeding models.

In 1910 a $975.00 closed Coupe was produced along with the roadster and Touring Cars. This automobile was painted dark green enamel with nickel trim and equipped with interior and exterior lights. Advertising claims for the Flanders Coupe included "Silent As An Electric" and "Ready At Any Time To Travel Anywhere".

From 1909 to 1912 the Flanders remained about the same except for the price. The E-M-F was a companion make equipped with a 40 horsepower engine.

To enter Belle Isle State Park you will need either a Michigan State Park Passport or a day pass. Residents are $11.00 per year, non residence is $31.00 per year and the daily pass is $9.00 per day.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has given the Belle Isle Cachers exclusive permission to place all geocaches on Belle Isle State Park. Please be respectful to the park, its management and all other visitors during your time here.

This park is very busy year round, please use extreme stealth at all times as every area is being used by others. Rock hides give great views around the island, we have marked the cache location to help with your finds so please replace just as you found them.
