Gray Motor Corporation Detroit, Michigan 1921-1926

In 1921 Frank L. Klingensmith and Frank F. Beall took over the old established firm of the Gray Motor Company. The Gray Motor Company built marine engines for many years. The company was organized into the Gray Motor Corporation for the sole purpose of making a new automobile called the Gray.

Frank L. Klingensmith was president of this company after spending many years with the Ford Motor Co. The Gray Motor Corporation's manufacturing plant was located on eighteen acres of land at Mack Avenue and the Terminal Railroad in Detroit, Michigan. The Gray was a low priced American Automobile. In it's initial showing in a New York Auto Show, the Gray was well received. Their first year of production comprised of orders received at this New York Auto Show.

For only $895.00 you could own a 1924 Gray Automobile!The Gray magazine advertising on the left promoted the exceptional gas mileage that the 1923 Gray Touring Roadster regularly attained by thousands of Gray owners. "Such economy testifies to the remarkably fine engineering of the Gray." The Price of the 1923 Touring Roadster was $490.00.
Promoting the Gray Four Door Sedan (right) this magazine ad stated - "Exceptional high quality of coach work, graceful lines, distinctive appearance with unbeaten economy, real comfort and mechanically right."
In 1925 The Gray Motor Corp. produced a three passenger Coupe that sold for $845.00, a five passenger Touring Car at $630.00 and a five passenger Sedan priced at $895.00. The engine in all three models was a four cylinder that produced 21 horsepower and had a wheelbase was 104 inches.

To enter Belle Isle State Park you will need either a Michigan State Park Passport or a day pass. Residents are $11.00 per year, non residence is $31.00 per year and the daily pass is $9.00 per day.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has given the Belle Isle Cachers exclusive permission to place all geocaches on Belle Isle State Park. Please be respectful to the park, its management and all other visitors during your time here.

This park is very busy year round, please use extreme stealth at all times as every area is being used by others. Rock hides give great views around the island, we have marked the cache location to help with your finds so please replace just as you found them.
