Hey Dad, Wanna Have a Cache? (Douglas Park) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CrimeFighter89: Sad to see my 1st hide have to go, but knowing Douglas Park was in a massive multi-year remodel, phase II was taking down the smaller baseball fields and apparantly the bleachers too. I drove by and confirmed all that was left was a heap of metal. Thought about checking to see if I could find my container, but decided to let her rest in her grave.

I really liked this hide and loved the FTF write-up by drjrm1 - possibly my all-time favorite log on one of my caches. However, I guess no one had gone after it for two years, so archiving it isn't the worst thing.

Geocache Description:

This is my first cache hide, so hopefully coordinates, difficulty & terrain are accurate -- if not, let me know. Please log a DNF if you can't find the cache.

This cache is located in my favorite RI park. I've played hundreds of hours of baseball here. The best advice I can give: if the bullets start flying, stay low to the ground!  (this isn't the best neighborhood, but the plus is that no one's going to think twice about people lurking around the bleachers. If you have kevlar in your ToTT, bring it!)

congrats DRJRM1 for FTF & thanks for the comical log!

Douglas Park is the official home of Veto League Baseball.  The "VLB" is a semi-competitive slow pitch baseball league designed for average ballplayers.  It's FREE to play.  It's admittedly bad baseball played by those who love the game.  The league was created in 1998 by Moline Maroon Matthew Veto and has survived 17 seasons.  Games are played during the spring and summer every weekend at 11:30.  More info, along with a "sign up", can be found at www.TheVLB.com.  Enjoy the cache!
