Join the BC Geocaching Association and Metro Vancouver Geocachers as we build our muscles and get our hands dirty (in the best way) as we work with Metro Vancouver Parks staff for a day of Invasive Species Removal at Kanaka Creek Regional Park. Add an official Geocaching CITO Souvenir, lunch, and hanging around with friends old and new and you've got a great day!
Date: Sunday, April 26, 2015
Activity: Removing Butternut Trees
Time: 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm (lunch: 12:00 - 12:30 pm)
Park: Kanaka Creek Regional Park
Meeting Location: 24386 – 110th Avenue, Maple Ridge
Details: We’ll be removing non-native butternut trees from the park. The meeting location is on a residential street. We’ll have to park on the side of the street, so make sure not to block any driveways. Metro Vancouver will provide gloves, tools, and a light lunch. Please come dressed for the weather. Rubber/hiking boots are recommended. Roy, our friendly local Stewardship Technician with Metro Vancouver Parks said this should be easier than the Broom Pull in Fort Langley (pictured above).`
Fyi. The Metro Vancouver Parks “Goodbye Chums” event is also happening at the Park (at Bell Irving Fish Hatchery) that day (11:00 am – 3:00 pm). You’re welcome to stop by the event and release some salmon fry.
