"With a Moo-Moo here, and a Cluck-Cluck there..." Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

SweetTea24: I'm sad to say I'm going to archive this cache. A large part of the cache is currently missing. The large chicken is no longer in Byron Center. I'm not sure when (or if) the chicken might be coming back. Hope you enjoyed the letterbox!

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at posted coordinates.

Welcome!  This letterbox will take you through Byron Center and a section of Kent Trails. Use the coordinates posted above to begin your journey.

The posted coordinates above should lead you to a parking lot or a place to parallel park.

Once here, look up.  Do pigs fly?  No… but I do see a farm animal up in the sky!  It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s supercow???  Find and make note of the four digit date on the sign.  This date will be called “A” in the formula below.

Continue west to Kent Trails parking area (coordinates listed as parking waypoint below)  Take care!  Harlow is a ONE WAY street.  In less than 3 blocks, you should encounter “large poultry” on the north side of 84th Street.  Feel free to stop and take a selfie with this “unique” bird for your log.  (photo not required)

To the west of this bird, just beyond the chain link fence is parking for Kent Trails. (coordinates listed as parking waypoint below)  This is the closest parking to the final cache. Bring a pen with you.

Walk north to the beginning of the paved trail and a rock with a plaque attached.  Have a seat.  Relax.  Take a moment to ponder if this town has any more farm animal statues on display… chuckle to yourself. Moo. Moo. Cluck. Cluck. Make a “note to self” that the 1st bench on the trails is nearby.

Looking around, you will notice a sign.  This sign states that you may not take your motorized vehicle or horse on the trails.  (does that mean it’s OK to take your cow, donkey, or pig?)

Count the number of O’s in the sign.  Multiply this number by 300.  This answer is “B” in the formula below.

Use “A” and subtract “B” to get the answer “C”

You should get a 3 digit number with a checksum of eleven.

Begin walking down Kent Trails for “C” amount of steps. (I’m short)

After walking the specified number of steps, you will see a field to the west. If you are lucky, you might see cows in the field to the west. If you are not lucky, you might smell cows in the field to the west. If the cows are not lucky, they will become "quality meat."

Ahead to the northeast, you should see another bench. Go to this bench. Read the plaque. Think about fried chicken. Ponder this question. "Which came first? The chicken or the egg?" If your answer is chicken, go 144 steps south. If your answer is egg, go 142 steps south. On your walk, feel free to sing “Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O…”

After traveling the specified number of paces, look east and go find the cache! (It’s a peanut butter container decorated by a fastpitschfamily kid) This letterbox hybrid cache contains a stamp for your stamping enjoyment. Please leave the stamp with the cache. Thanks!

Be happy! The cow and the chicken ask that you consider eating bacon and turkey for every meal.
