El Museo de Historia y Arte de Guayama (MHAG) promueve el estudio de la vida de hombres y mujeres nacidos, o destacados, en el pueblo de Guayama, y sus aportaciones a la historia y a la cultura puertorriqueña en general.
La institución autónoma, sin fines de lucro, se fundó con el propósito de reunir, conservar, estudiar y difundir el arte y la historia local. No obstante, en el MHAG se estudiará tanto el arte, como la historia nacional, y universal, como una forma de profundizar conocimientos y desarrollar el juicio crítico.
Como parte de la misión del MHAG, se incorpora ofrecerle al pueblo, y a la región a la que pertenece, un espacio que fomente la investigación, y el conocimiento íntegro y veraz de su propia historia.
El Museo de Historia y Arte de Guayama se propone crear conciencia histórica en la comunidad en general, y ofrecer diversas experiencias culturales y educativas al público.

The autonomous, nonprofit, was founded to collect, preserve, study and disseminate art and local history. However, in both art Mhag as national history and universal, as a way to deepen knowledge and develop critical judgment will be studied.
