McDaniel Pioneer Cemetery Traditional Cache

BYOP. Please park along side of road and walk to the cache site. Drive down at your own risk. I would advise against that most of the year. Should be a quick P&G for most. The cemetery is up the hill and to the SW of the cache location. If you wish to visit, again, I would advise against driving up there. The access road leads right to the gate. Might be difficult to get during the winter.

McDaniel Cemetery is located in the SE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 23 of Nevada Township, Story County, Iowa. It is also known as the Mound Cemetery (probably based on it's location on top of a hill) and Hickory Grove Cemetery (based on it's proximity to Hickory Grove Lake, though this burial ground was here long before the park was even a thought). This cemetery has been designated as an Iowa Pioneer Cemetery, which means that there have been 12 or fewer burials here in the past 50 years.

Please take time to visit the other geocache up by the cemetery itself (called "Prairie Pioneers") as it will allow you to grab another cache and explore the cemetery at the same time. If you do this, please remember to CITO and please respect the property. No night caching here, please.
