From this point you can view multiple counties, speeding grass, wildlife, eggs on wheels, caged muggles and water levels of the San Bernard River. You can also see the water level recording equipment.
The San Bernard River begins near New Ulm and flows for 120 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. One of the highest recorded floods was in 1998 with 42.37 ft. when 22 inches of rain fell in two days. You could NOT cross the bridge at this time, because the approaches were submerged. In this area the flood stage is 18 ft. and when this cache was created the water level was 8 ft. The water level could be as high as 15 ft. twice, before the caches first find.
For more information on current water levels go to http://www.water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=HGX&gage=BOLT2. We would love for you to post what the water level was when you found the cache.
For a fun side note, if you look 30 miles down river during the holiday season you may also see a bunch of friends and their parade http://www.sanbernardriver.com/.
Way to go Shake-N-Bake for FTF!
