Geocache Description:

One-room schools were commonplace throughout rural portions of Pipestone County in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

District 49 was approved on July 27, 1885. The school was located in section 12. It was known as “The Foster School” because the school was located on the acreage owned by William Foster. When the district dissolved in 1954, the student were transported to Ruthton.

For more information about all the country schools located in Pipestone County please feel free to visit the Pipestone County Museum. This is a small container just holding a log, so bring your own writing tool. A TOTT may also be needed.
