THIS BRIDGE WILL BE DEMOLISHED SOMETIME IN 2023. Summer of 2022 is your last chance to find this popular hide! If construction impedes access to the pedestrian walkway, this cache will be archived sooner.
What is a "riveted, 10-panel K-Parker through truss" design? The bridge was not welded or bolted together, but riveted. If you look at the bridge from the side, you will notice that it is made up of 10 "panels" or sections. These panels are made up of beams which look like the letter K. Lastly, you don't drive over or under the trusswork, but through the middle of it. This bridge has a pedestrian walkway which spans the Caney River's low-water dam. The bridge was built in 1937, but sadly it is not aging well and may not exist by 2037 if millions of dollars aren't invested to repair its current deficencies.
The south end of the bridge is located at the entryway to several fantastic parks in Bartlesville. The bridge also spans the entryway to the Pathfinder Parkway series of trails. The north end of this bridge is an area popular with local fishermen.
This is a massive iron bridge which will cause your GPS to become extremely innacurate. If you zoom in on the satellite view of the geocaching.com website's map, the smiley is right on top of the GZ for this cache.
The container is in plain sight and very well camouflaged. The container is micro, but not a nano. It is easily accessed from the bridge's west pedestrian walkway. Finding this cache does not require any climbing, dangerous leaning, or TOTT. Please return the cache to the exact spot in which you found it.
This cache was both fun & challenging for me to make and I hope that finding it can be described the same way.
