Geocache Description:

A simple multi based on the trenches dug for training by the Inns Of Court Officer Training Corps.

Inns of Court Regiment was a British Army Regiment which existed under that name between May 1932 and May 1961. However, the unit traces its lineage back much further, to at least 1584, and its name lives on within 68(Inns of Court & City and Yeomanry) Signal Squadron part of 71 (City of London) Yeomanry Signal Regiment.
During a review by King George III in Hyde Park in 1803, King George used his dislike for lawyers :particularly ones carrying arms to name the massed ranks of the Law Association as ‘The Devil’s Own’:It is understood that the King was in high health and excellent spirits at the time. Even at the present day this appellation has not wholly died away
From the parking walk across the busy road to the memorial .

More than half of the 12,000 officers trained in Berkhamsted were killed in action. 3 Victoria crosses were awarded.
How many words on the memorial are not in English, let this be f.
Lt Col FHL Errington is the only person named on this memorial , for how many years did he serve the corps and was its loved and honoured commander: 3a years
Now walk to the information board , passing on your way the waypoints given for the two lines of trenches clearly visible together with various other positions.
These are the only surviving 600 metres that are unfilled.
They were cleared and mapped by volunteers, of which I was one, in 2012/3. Take some time to explore the area but be careful as it is sometimes tricky underfoot.
At the Information board ,it states that there were 7.5 miles of practice trenches .
Berkhamsted Golf Club was founded in 189d.
If you forgot to count the non English words on the memorial there are f organisations represented on the bottom right of the board.
Finally find a nearby bench on which to sit, admire the view and, using three more numbers from the plaque calculate GZ.
The last three numbers you need are 2nd Lieut John Graham Goffey , 17th Bn Kings Royal Rifle Corps 189c-191b.
Killed in action at Beaumont Hamel(Somme) on e rd September 191b

The cache can be found at N51 46.a(b-5)(c-2) W000 33.def. It is a short walk to GZ.

Further evidence of filled trenches can be seen along this ridge.
