Geocache Description:

*** THE CHILDREN’S FOREST MYSTERY ***

This is one of 8 new caches placed to Introduce Geocaching, on March 28, 2015, to potentially new cachers here at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center in cooperation with the Cable Natural History Museum and sponsored by the Friends of the Center.

Parking at the NGLVC is from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Please note the signs along the trail notify hikers that the gate closes at 5 pm.

Please plan ahead and give yourself at least 30-40 minutes to find the clues and cache.

START HERE: Let’s begin your investigation at the first interpretive sign called “Investigate the Children’s Forest Trail” and continue your walk along the outer loop in a clockwise direction. This should be about 7/10’s of a mile distance, unlike what the sign reads. You will walk the entire trail to collect the clues. The cache will be a regular sized cache and should be available year-round.

COLLECT CLUES from the 6 Interpretive Signs along the trail to reach the FINAL Cache. Replace the LETTERS with the NUMBERS you will build for the final coordinates. The Clues will not be in the same order as the signs, so look over all the Letter Clues as you read the signs.

The FINAL is at: N46 AB.CDE W090 FG.GHD

C = What is the year that the NGLVC developed its agency partnerships? Take the year minus 1998. ______

D = Sedge Meadows are a rare site. There are two other commonly used names for the haystack-like clumps dotting this meadow. How many letters are in one of these names (both are the same)? _____

E = In the Battle for the Landscape there is a grass named as an invasive species. How many letters are in the first word of its two-word-name minus 4? _____

F = How many Great Lakes are pictured on the sign Microscopic Clues to the Past? _____
