Bel wanting a Timbits AGAIN!!!
About eight years ago, I got a phone call from TinkerBelof7, who asked me if I wanted to go with her to pick out a new dog from the Smiths Falls Animal Shelter. That was when I was first introduced to Bel, a 8 pound fluffy ball of fur with attitude.
I could tell right away that Tink had fallen immediately in love with this little powder puff. On the way home, Tink told me that her husband, StinkerBel, mentioned he didn't want another dog. I was wondering if we would be making the trip back to the shelter the next day to return her. No fear, StinkerBel fell in love with her too. Tink's grandson slept with her and will miss her terribly.
Now, wee Bel, had a tragic past; she was a breeding dog from a puppy mill. As often happens when dogs are confined in small cages for extended periods, she barked a lot. Her voice box was altered surgically, so her bark now was quite unique. She ruled the roost and was one pampered little puppy. Even though she didn't have many teeth, she loved her timbits. At the cottage her favorite activity was going for boat rides, and when she would disappear for a while, you could find her sitting on the pontoon.
Her last year was difficult with limited sight, seizures and problems with mobility. About a month ago, when Bel was 18, Tink made the difficult decision to end Bel's suffering. A very sad day for all.
You will always be remembered Bel, rest easy little one.
