A possibly apocryphal story of a recent geocache find:
I walked through the timber like a dark horse in search of a recently hidden geocache. A quick find would make me happy, an unsuccessful search, not so much. All of me was excited, however, about my fancy new GPS receiver. It guided me perfectly through the woods, up and down hills, and finally out to a clearing by a stream. I nearly startled a man standing in the stream fishing for bass. Not wishing to be rude, I quietly made a wide berth around the fisherman and approached ground zero further down the stream. Of course it was in heavy brush and I wished I had applied bug spray before setting out. I was not surprised to see a tick crawling up my leg, but fortunately I able to shake it off. Finally I found the cache and yelled in delight, fortunately not disturbing the fisherman whose attention was all about that bass he had just caught. As I opened the cache, another annoying tick was on my leg, but I was able to shake it off as well. I then signed my name on the blank space in the log and returned to my car in triumph.
