The early Stewart Island bush was the home of many giant Rimu trees which were extensively milled by the early settlers for timber. Some large specimens have survived the axe and cross cut saw and still tower over other native trees and plants. Take the short bush walk form the sports field down to Golden Bay and you will pass two large rimus. The cache a 200ml screw top plastic jar with log book only, bring your own pen.
