Geocache Description:

This geocache was placed to honour the memory of Fred Richards, a man of Wessex, a keen walker and an avid geocacher. Fred cached as Wessex Warrior and achieved the admirable total of 2168 finds between August 2010 and January 2015.  His friendly smile and amiable nature will be missed by his geocaching friends around Andover.

You are seeking a large plastic container that is not intended to be hard to find.

The container is well stocked with good quality geoswag, remember the idea that your swap should be something of equal or greater value.

There is a souvenir prize of a wooden coin in the cache for the 'First to Find'.

Please replace the container as found to keep it safe from muggle eyes and to ensure that subsequent searchers enjoy the same experience.

We have given a choice of two parking waypoints, both of which entail a round trip walk of just under two miles.

Fred was a great walker, organising many days out exploring the footpaths and scenery of Hampshire and Wiltshire. There are some lovely views along the routes to the cache, take a moment to look across the Bourne Valley towards North West Hampshire and Berkshire beyond.

The Church Street parking waypoint in Hurstbourne Tarrant is the shorter walk but is mainly uphill.

The Stoke Road parking waypoint is further away but is a leveller route without any significant inclines.

Neither route is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs or mountain bikes.

Wherever you choose to start from please park with consideration and care.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they’d like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or “copy and paste” logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn’t tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
