Flooding of Bleistätter Moor Traditional Cache

Am Ostufer des Ossiacher Sees soll ein Teil des Bleistätter Moores mit einer Fläche von ca. 75 ha geflutet werden um Sedimentationsbecken für die in den See mündende Tiebel zu schaffen.

A part of the former bog area at the eastern bank of Lake Ossiach, the so-called Bleistätter Moor, will be flooded. Thus, sedimentation basins are created for the river Tiebel flowing into the lake.

Das Pumphaus wurde im Juni 2012 fertig und im Herbst sollte die Flutung erfolgen. Das 10-Millionen-Euro-Projekt läuft seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre. Ein Ziel ist die Verbesserung der Wasserqualität des Ossiacher Sees. Das Gebiet soll künftig auch für sanften Tourismus genützt werden.

The building of the pumping station was finished in June 2012 and in autumn the flooding should take place. The 10-million-Euro-project is running since the middle of the 1990th. One goal is the improvement of the water quality of Lake Ossiach. Die region should be used for gentle tourism in the future.
