Au pied de l'hôpital de Voiron, la Morge est barrée par une impressionnante dentition !
La Morge est une petite rivière d'à peine 27 km de long, mais c'est une rivière à caractère torrentiel, qui peut rapidement changer de débit et provoquer des crues-éclair importantes.
Il y a plus de 100 ans, le 5 juin 1897, une trombe d'eau d'une durée et d'une violence extraordinaire s'abat sur la région Voironnaise, de Miribel à St Etienne de Crossey. La Morge monte de 5 à 8m selon les témoignages.
Au pont de l'hôpital, les débris emportés par la Morge s'amoncèlent et forment un barrage naturel (une embâcle). Dans la soirée, le barrage finit par céder et la retenue d'eau s'engouffre dans la ville, balayant tout sur son passage. En amont, les usines installées au bord de la rivière seront endommagées de façon plus ou moins importantes. Il y aura plusieurs centaines de sinistrés et un décès à déplorer.
Aujourd'hui, la commune de Voiron est soumise à un plan de prévention des risques d'inondation et les Dents de la Morge font partie d'un piège à embâcle construit en 2006, au niveau du pont de l'hôpital. Il permet d’éviter la formation de barrages naturels juste en amont du centre ville.
Allez sur le pont jeter un coup d'œil côté ville et vous pourrez sans peine imaginer les dégâts causés par une vague de plusieurs mètres de haut s'engouffrant dans la ville !
MODE D'EMPLOI :
Il n'y a pas de crayon dans la cache, apportez le vôtre.
Prévoyez des chaussures qui ne craignent pas l'eau : le terrain est très très spongieux !
Il y a moyen d'atteindre la cache sans traverser la Morge à pied !
MERCI DE REPLACER LA BOITE EXACTEMENT OU VOUS L'AVEZ TROUVEE.
Libre à vous de faire des acrobaties pour récupérer la boîte, mais d'autres ne le souhaitent ou ne le peuvent pas forcément. Pour leur permettre de récupérer la cache, elle doit être replacée toujours à la même hauteur.
Ce qui cache la boîte doit être replacé avec les parties noires vers le haut pour permettre à la pluie de s'écouler.
La boîte peut facilement tomber lors de la récupération. Cherchez bien au sol autour si vous ne trouvez pas le logbook. La boîte est maintenant un petit tube transparent plus facilement repérable dans l'herbe que l'ancien tube noir.

At the foot of Voiron hospital, the Morge is barred by an impressive set of teeth !
The Morge is a small river just 27 km long, but it is a torrential river, which can quickly change speed and cause major flash floods.
More than 100 years ago, on the 5th of June 1897, an extraordinary long and violent rainstorm raged on the Voiron region, from Miribel to St Etienne de Crossey. The Morge rose by 5 to 8m according to testimonies.
At the hospital bridge, rocks and trees carried away by the Morge formed a natural dam. In the evening, the dam finally gave way and all the water rushed into the city, sweeping away everything in its path. Upstream, the plants installed along the river were damaged. There will be hundreds of victims and one death reported.
Today, the town of Voiron is subject to flood risk prevention plan and the teeth of the Morge are part of a trap jam built in 2006, at the Hospital Bridge. It prevents the formation of natural dams just upstream from downtown.
Go over the bridge and take a look toward the town, and you can easily imagine the damage caused by a wave several meters high rushing into the city!
USER'S GUIDE :
There are no pencil in the cache, bring your own.
Do not come with city shoes: the terrain is very spongy !
There is no need to cross the river by foot. There is a way to reach the cache while staying dry (until you reach the spongy terrain) !
BE CAREFUL TO REPLACE THE BOX EXACTLY WHERE YOU FOUND IT.
It's your choice to do acrobatics to reach the box, but others do not want or can't do it. To allow them to reach the cache, it must be put back at the same height.
What hide the box must be placed with the black part at the top to allow the rain to drain.
The box can easily fall during recovery. Look around for it on the ground if you can not find the logbook. The box is now a small transparent tube more easily spotted in the grass than the previous black tube.
