The path mostly consists of pavement-there is a "wild" section as we call it, that is grass/rock the last 3/4 of a mile. Some of these are located on the mountain bike path, which is also a hiking path. This path from in town Dixon to Lowell Park is 3 miles one way-with a aditional 3/4 from where you turn to go to the park to the end of the path at Penrose Rd.
All caches consists of whiz bangs, preforms, matchstick containers, and a few more different varieties. All are off the ground, not to far off the path. Use stealth as always. Please take caution as in the summer months there will be overgrowth but still accessible. Watch for poision ivy and ticks.
