The cache is not for the faint-hearted. It is a 2 kilometer walk in from the parking location and requires the cacher to follow a very overgrown track which follows the ridge-line/spur to the Peak. Most of the climb is fairly gentle with the final peak being a bit of a slog. Allow at least 90 minutes to get to the cache.
Rocky Peak offers fine views of the ranges and parts of Eildon Dam. The track is not arduous but it requires the walker to do some basic navigation.
There are minimal red tape markers on this old track and much of it is overgrown.
There are numerous very large gum trees which have survived the fires and logging many years back. The vegetation is in very good condition with only a few patches of blackberries.
Be wary of attempting this cache if the weather is very hot or very cold. There are no easy shortcuts.
At the top of the Peak ( which is quite rocky) you will find a Trig Point and a marker with the warning that to damage it will incur a 50 Pound fine.
This cache was placed whilst on an overnight hike - we camped near the peak and enjoyed the fine views.
Cache is in a 400 ml container- bring a pen
