Volunteer opportunity at Salt Lake City's own
Mountain View Elementary Social Justice Gardens!
Organized by the University of Utah's Lowell Bennion Community Service Center,
sponsored by community donors and Comcast.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The coords posted above pinpoint a neighborhood Church Pavilion (accessible from 1400S or Concord Ave) as starting coords for the Meet & Greet @ 8am. Event coords are listed as "Final Destination" in the waypoint field below.
• 8am–9am | Meet & Greet from will be held in the Pavilion
• 9am–Noon | CITO will be held at nearby Mountain View Elementary (1380 South Navajo)
• BREAKFAST & LUNCH provided generously at this event, first-come first-served basis to the Garden Volunteers only.
What to expect:
Kick off Earth Day at a community garden site! Volunteers needed to prepare for the spring planting season and ready the garden for another year of growth. Volunteers will be provided with a light breakfast, coffee and lunch. The Social Justice Gardens, at Mountain View Elementary School, is a place where community members, university and elementary students, and teachers work together to cultivate environmental justice through urban agriculture.
Volunteer Tasks Include: Clean & trim fence line, fill 30 garden boxes with rich soil, clean and trim plants, clean flower beds and Diversity Garden
BYO: Water Bottles (sometimes donated beverages run out, pack in your own just in case!), Sunscreen, Sun Protection (hats, bandanas...), Work Gloves, Durable Shoes, and a great attitude!
A LOG SHEET WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE EVENT.
