Geocache Description:

Reydon woods is a 41 acre ancient woodland managed by Suffolk wildlife trust from whom I have obtained permission to place the cache. The cache is located close to the nature trail as show by the map below, including the walk from the car park the route is about 1 mile.

Much of Reydon wood is still traditionally managed by coppicing, whereby plots of coppice are cut to take a crop of firewood and then allowed to regrow on 15 to 20 year rotation. Woodland wildlife thrives under this regime which particularly benefits woodland plants and birds.

Following the trail around the woods you can enjoy a spectacular display of bluebells in spring while the ancient coppice stools are best seen in winter.
