Geocache Description:

My first attempt at placing a geo-cache, decided on this spot as being a good place to start. You are looking for a magnetic nano container, log book only, please remember to bring a pen + tweezers could be useful to retrieve log.

This is the first geo-cache that I have placed, the area around here seemed to be lacking in caches so I’ve decided to fill in some of the gaps. On road parking is available nearby on either Tuffley Avenue or Stroud Road and there are bus stops nearby.

The gardens are wheel chair accessible but the paving is a bit uneven so take care.

I hope you enjoy searching for it, whilst here take a moment to sit on one of the benches and maybe have a read about something that happened very close to here just over 50 years ago. The cache has recently been moved due to frequent disappearances please take the time to replace carefully. Cache can be reached from inside and outside of gardens.

Just over 50 years ago on 27 March 1963 a twin engined Vickers Varsity aircraft of Smiths Industries of Cheltenham crashed less than two miles from the city centre of Gloucester.

This geocache is sited in the memorial gardens which are next to the crash site.

For more information including amazing photos about this unfortunate event which could have been a lot worse given the proximity of Ribston Hall and Crypt schools follow this link:
