Welcome to Carrotwood Traditional Cache

As you stroll through this open land that was once a golf course you can see mother nature has taken full control. You will see some concrete paths where carts rolled through and maybe a sign or two that some trees have made their own. In the middle of all of this is a few certain trees that have the name of a veggie but they will not be found on it. Stand where the coords bring you and enjoy your surroundings, but you will have to do some searching for this one...

The Carrotwood is an evergreen tree that can grow to a height of 35 ft. (10.7 m). The inner bark is orange, hence the common name. The leaves are compound with 4-10 leaflets; each leaflet is 4-8 in. (10-20 cm) long, shiny with rounded or emarginate (indented) apices. Flowering occurs in the winter, where small, greenish white, 5-petaled flowers appear in clusters in the leaf axils. Bright orange capsules with shiny, black seeds ripen from June to May. Carrotwood is native to Australia and was introduced into the United States as early as 1955. This tree can grow in full sun or shade and has been shown to be salt tolerant. It occurs in marshlands, cypress swamps, pinewoods and dunes.
