780 episodes of The Electric Company were broadcast from 1971 to 1977. Designed to help elementary school children with their grammar and reading skills, the show was a more mature version of Sesame Street. Using comedy sketches and recurrent themes, animation and live performances, and spoofing other popular television shows of the time, The Electric Company appealed to children of all ages. Regulars such as Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno and Morgan Freeman topped an A-list cast. Guest stars were no less talented and included Gene Wilder, Victor Borge, Irene Cara, Carol Burnett, Michael Landon, Woody Allen and many more.
My favorite quote "It's the plumber I've come to fix the sink." Guess you had to be there.
