Rarely do we celebrate something being turned OFF. The accuracy in this spot is not good- I could only get 7 Meters, too much cover, not enough sky. See the picture. You'll want to be in this area. Please be gentle on the ziplock! I had some helpers on hiding day. Please access off Fairview Court. It's pretty easy, come get this one for your souvenir!
Saturday, May 2, 2015 will mark the 15th anniversary of the "Big Blue Switch" of GPS selective availability being flipped off, enabling civilians to enjoy accurate GPS signals. On May 2, 2000, at approximately midnight, eastern savings time, the switch controlling selective availability was turned off. Prior to this event, the GPS signals were only accurate for U.S. Military purposes, on their command. Twenty-four satellites around the globe processed their new orders, and instantly the accuracy of GPS technology improved tenfold. Tens of thousands of GPS receivers around the world had an instant upgrade.
If you find a cache on May 2nd, 2015, you will receive a new souvenir for your collection.
