Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Traralgon South Trail (TST) – a series of geocaches that follow the pedestrian/cycle track to the Traralgon South Township and beyond.

The trail wanders through a picturesque rural area with a variety of landscapes and vegetation.  Now you have the added incentive of a number of caches to get out and exercise and enjoy this environment. We have designed the trail to include a variety of different sized containers, also hidden in a variety of different ways. We hope you enjoy the trail.

The trail is about seven kilometres long, but mostly flat. It can be done either in one attempt or broken into smaller segments. There are designated parking places which break the walk/cycle into three similar sized parts. Please be aware that motor cycles are not permitted on this track.

Before commencing on this walk/cycle, please take a few minutes to read the following information:-

Traffic:

If you are geocaching with children, please be aware that you are adjacent to a very busy road at all times and that due care should be taken. There are also three major road crossings (Callignee South Road, Keith Morgan Drive and Rifle Range Road) and extreme care should be taken, particularly with the Callignee South Road.

Parking:

This trail is designed to be completed either as a walk or a bike ride, but is not suitable to be done as a series of drive-byes. The road is narrow and can be very busy with cars, trucks, motor bikes and farm vehicles. The traffic uses the road at high speed. It offers very few places to safely pull over and road verges are narrow with deep boggy gutters.

PLEASE park in the designated areas (waypoints are listed below).

DO NOT park in front of or near the fire brigade facilities in Traralgon South.

Environment:

Take care when searching for the caches that you do not damage any structure, vegetation or private property. No caches have been located on private property.

You will be walking alongside a lot of native vegetation. Please be aware that in the warmer months there is the possibility of snakes. However also take time to check out the local wildflowers in season.

Be careful of blackberries, pot holes, fallen tree debris and other hazards, particularly if you leave the track.

Several of the hides in this series require a pair of tweezers to remove the log, so please bring some with you.
