This unique location was found on the way back from nearby DASE's Treasure (which we highly recommend while you're in the area - actually, it's probably best to get the treasure first and follow the blue diamonds back towards this one in order to avoid a steep uphill climb back to the trail).
Access by parking on the side of Weldon Road at the head of the nearby unmarked trail at N 41 0.807 W 74 34.826 and following until intersecting with the Yellow trail. Alternate access by parking near the Mahlon Dickerson camping area and accessed by following the Yellow blazes to the right. When you get to the footbridge, a short trek along the stream will bring you to the cache. The left side of the stream is open rocky woods and the right side is a bit flatter but may get wetter. .
On a clear Spring afternoon, we headed out to find some local treasure and decided to follow the stream on the way back due to the allure of the bubbling waterfall sounds. We came upon this very pretty series of falls and the unique formations of stone and waterflow inspired the placement of the cache. There were no leaves yet and skunk cabbage was just starting to show in the area. Expect the area to be swampy and a bit buggy if approaching between mid April and December. Also, please tread lightly - there are all kinds of pretty mosses and delicate swamp flora in the area. Should be quite picturesque in the late spring and summer.
Fairies are small and live in tight places. It is paramount that the cache retriever is not a giant (um, a 33" waistline had some difficulty) so plan you're troupe accordingly.
Cache has been replaced with a 4" PVC container with a log book and room for small trade items. Please ba careful to replace it in the correct orientation to help prevent it from becoming water logged or getting swept away.
