How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

PrincessTam and myself (ltwells) are both Scout Leaders and spend our summers camping, recently we have taken over this run down campsite to redevelop it for the young people in the area...it still needs some work.

For anyone who knows us we like our weird and obscure Geocaches, in particular look at our Enigma Series in Rogerstone, Newport for a hint of what the Geocache Event will have in store for you...

SCOUT CAMPSITE CACHE WORKSHOP

We are going to set up a mini Geocaching trail around the campsite for you to follow (coordinates provided on the day). The Caches will be a range of different types, containers, puzzles, multis, etc. for you to play with and explore. Hopefully you will have fun finding them and maybe get some ideas for your own.

It would be helpful if you bring your GPS, two kebab skewers (or similar), a water container (at least two litres) and tweezers.

Please feel free to bring along your own Caches for show and swap.

TIME

10am-1pm (we can stay a little later if people want to hang around on site after the Event).

DONATION

It is a Scout campsite so we are asking for a £2 donation if possible to cover the renting of the site and in return we will provide tea/coffee (bring your own mug) & a hotdog. We will also have a campfire and provide the batter for Twists (don't know what they are, make sure you come along and find out).

FACILITIES

There is running water on site, a toilet (a Scout toilet in a shed so you may wish to use the pub), two washing up sinks, campfire circle, grass field, shelter area (in case of rain), trees for hammocking and a small car park/hard standing.

The site is not massively wheelchair friendly, the toilet is not (no hand rails - standard toilet), there is a flat field and also a reasonable size patio area. I will ensure some of the Caches are wheelchair friendly for anyone attending. Pushchairs and children should be fine. Dogs are allowed providing you do the necessary.

TRAVEL

Easy access by car, see parking in the notes.

It is a few minutes walk from Ebbw Vake Parkway Railway Station (you can access the site from the bottom entrance off Park Road).

ACCOMODATION

For anyone coming from a little further away or wishing to stay the night before there is a Premier Inn next to the Railway Station and literally at the bottom of the campsite with a Brewers Fayre Pub also there for food & drinks.

Alternatively, you can camp on the campsite for £2, Tammy & I are staying over with a few others already (arriving from 6pm onwards on the Saturday) - we do like a good campfire!

**If you wish to stay over on site or are staying at the Premier Inn, let us know in advance**
