Geocache Description:

”And Now For Something a Little Different", a paddle in the Moonlight in the depths of Winter.

You have the opportunity to earn two of the Geocaching Road trip Souvenirs at this event, along with do something I doubt many have experienced previously

  • Venue:, The Middle (well not quiet) of Raglan Harbour
  • Gear Up Time:, 9.00 pm (Due to the need for Safety to ensure everyone returns)
  • Set Off Time , 9:45 pm (All Together)
  • High Tide Time , 11.18 pm
  • Meet at GZ , 10.30 pm
  • Expected Back to Cars , No later than 12 Midnight

While I very much want all whom attend to have a great time and enjoy this is also about personal safety and responsibility to your fellow cachers and is all about teamwork. In saying that, If people are not feeling comfortable, then this is possibly not the event for you. If you do not want to follow the RULES BELOW, then please stay at home as I don't want to be a statistic.

The Programme

  • Meet Up and get ready at the Launch Point
  • Work out who's teaming with whom
  • Set off at 9.45pm across the Harbour
  • Meet at GZ at 10.30pm, Raft up and complete the Logbook
  • Search for the Glow Worms and possibly to Pancake Rock
  • Back at launch point at 12 midnight
  • Pack up, get warm, think about what daft things we get up to as cachers

Due to the nature of the event, Safety is of Utmost Importance to all "The Non-Negotiable Rules" of the Event:

  1. Safety is the First Consideration, If I deem the conditions unsafe on the night (when we are at the Launch Point) I will Call it off
  2. Every person will have a well fitted Life Vest with two attached Glow Sticks (one on the kayak hull)
  3. Every Kayak will have a BRIGHT WHITE light going at all times so you can be identified when out in the water
  4. All kayaks will team up with another Kayak for safety Two are better than one
  5. All Kayak Paddles are to be tethered to the kayak as its better to have a tether than lose a paddle
  6. Remember this is winter so dress appropriately, this is your responsibility

Kayak Rental / Night paddle I have negotiated Kayak Rental for the event for those that do not have access to a kayak but would like to attend.

Each person hiring still will have to provide there own Kayak lights, glow sticks, warm clothing, necessary medication.

The Kayak Company will provide the following:

  • Gear/area briefing,
  • Kayaks, Paddles, (Both Single and Double Kayaks are available)
  • Personal Flotation Device (Life-vest)
  • Dry bags

HIREAGE PERIOD: 9.00 pm – 12.00 pm

Price: $50 per person / Minimum of 6 person

PLEASE NOTE I NEED TO HAVE CONFIRMED NUMBERS TO MAKE THE BOOKING WITH THE KAYAK COMPANY BY THE 20TH JUNE
