Questa cache ti porterà a vivere un’avventura emozionante sui tetti della
Galleria di Milano, da cui ammirare il monumento storico da una prospettiva unica.
Progettata e costruita dall’architetto
Giuseppe Mengoni tra il 1865 e il 1877, la Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II prende il nome dal primo re del Regno d'Italia ed è uno dei più antichi centri commerciali del mondo oltre che un simbolo di Milano.
Triste destino per il povero Mengoni, che morì il giorno prima della sua inaugurazione, precipitando dalla cupola centrale "in uno scrosciar d'assi", come venne riportato nelle cronache del tempo.
Alla Galleria è legata anche la leggenda della vecchina e dei gatti neri che abitavano in uno dei sottotetti. Un giorno la vecchina, troppo sola e anziana per continuare a vivere lassù, se ne andò. Rimasero i gatti, che si moltiplicarono. Oggi, sui tetti della Galleria, vive ancora una colonia di dodici gatti, tutti neri, affidati alle cure del Comune di Milano. Durante il percorso sulla passerella potresti scorgerli, sonnecchianti al sole distesi su qualche cornicione. Anche loro contribuiscono a rendere magico questo luogo perché si sa, un tetto senza gatti è un tetto anonimo.

La cache è un contenitore piccolo ben camuffato, posto all’inizio del percorso vicino a una videocamera di sorveglianza. Contiene il logbook e una matita. Buon divertimento!
Questa cache è dedicata all'indimenticabile The Bart, che con tanto entusiasmo aveva seguito la sua realizzazione e generosamente aveva modificato le coordinate della sua cache "Milano Curiosa: il toro portafortuna" per consentire la pubblicazione di Highline Galleria.

Designed and built by architect
Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877, the Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy and it is one of the world's oldest shopping malls and a pure symbol of Milan.
But the magic is not all there. Once upon a time there was an old woman who lived in one of the attics of the Galleria with a couple of black cats. The day when the old woman, too lonely and old to continue to live up there, left the attic, the cats remained and have multiplied. Today, on the roofs of the Galleria, lives a colony of twelve black cats. The City Council of Milan takes care of them. During your visit you can spot them dozing in the sun on some ledge. These cats contribute to the magic of this place because, you know, a roof without a cat is an anonymous roof.

The cache is a small and well camouflaged box near a surveillance video camera, with logbook and pen inside. Have fun!
